Two pavilion lantern-like forms organize the design.
Unlike the original home, the new roof line and details echo the stately forest setting.
A breezeway from the garage creates a symbolic gateway for the entry. The unwelcoming, old entry was rarely used (…guests couldn’t find it).
A serene enmtry terrace court readily transforms into a vibrant outdoor entertaining space when needed.
The simple entryway, framed in stone, casts a lantern-like glow in the evening.
A new roof opens the living room to the sky and tree canopy, in stark contrast to the original living room, with its drooping roof and massive fireplace.
Daylight now streams into the living room brightening the shady forest location.
The new great room is open to the surrounding beauty of the forest in a way that wasn’t possible before with an overbearing fireplace in the middle of the space.
