“Exploring dreams, solving puzzles…”
Design and construction have been part of Mark's life since boyhood. Backyard forts and drawings of dream homes lead to studies in mathematics, art and the sciences. That architecture would become his eventual focus was a simple matter of connecting the dots. For Mark architecture is the opportunity to personally connect with clients, explore their dreams, and to solve their building puzzle in an artful and sensitive way. And it's about having fun.
But life is more than filling in the hours of the workweek. For Mark family, church and community are the chief reasons we occupy space on this planet. He and wife Carol have raised a family of three children in the Seattle home they built together some 25 years ago. They now share that home in the woods with a small but noisy parrot, a family of raccoons, and wild birds by the score. Two of their three children are now launched and gainfully employed in their careers. Hurray! The third is still navigating the college experience.
When the time and the opportunity allow Mark prefers to spend his time outdoors; bicycling, backpacking and canoeing are favorite activities. But you are just as likely to find him draped over his vintage Volvo getting his hands dirty or building something in the shop.
