Max Carter
Project Designer
Philosophy / Process
Max approaches architecture as more than designing buildings. He sees it as the thoughtful arrangement of ideas, values, and human purpose into built form. For him, design begins in the mind long before it becomes physical — shaped by psychology, worldview, and the deeper motivations that guide someone’s life. He believes meaningful architecture emerges from understanding people at this level, creating work that brings harmony, clarity, and identity to those who inhabit it. Max views design as both a reflection and an amplification of who a client is, offering spaces that inspire possibility and align with how they want to live.
Professional Development
Growth is central to Max’s work. He sees development not as an attempt at perfection, but as the necessary daily practice of learning, discipline, and intentional effort. Long-term goals serve as a guiding north star, but he focuses on consistent actions that build toward
them. This mindset was shaped by his academic path and athletics, but integrates itself into his approach to the profession. Max is currently completing his Master of Architecture and is on track to pursue architectural licensure in Washington in 2027. Each day of study, practice, and refinement contributes to the broader professional foundation he is building.
Personal Life
Outside the studio, Max is committed to personal growth and athletics. He trains for ultra-distance running, IRONMAN races, long self-supported backpacking trips, and alpine mountaineering; pairing endurance, with early-morning strength training. These pursuits
give him balance, structure, and community; qualities he brings back into his academic and professional work. When time allows, he enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and exploring experiences that expand his perspective.
